Fundraising events, motivational events, and many other methods of creating revenue and community invovlment are all applaudable and have served the non-for-profit world well.
With REEDYCares - there is a shift in our approach to charity. We believe that cutting out the middleman, is where the rubber meets the road. We are a hands on and very direct link to the charity. Our event dress code is not ties, cummerbunds and tails... and our dress code is usually a pair of jeans, a REEDY Industries T-shirt and the grit & determination to build a playground; to supply airconditioning for a hospital in Haiti; or simply painting a local urban underprivelaged junior high school.

Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot, Haiti Project
Haiti is an impoverished Caribbean country whose residents have a wonderful and generous spirit. With that spirit in mind, Reedy industries and Temperature Equipment Corporation arranged for the donation of 10 air conditioning units for use at the 64-bed Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot, Haiti.
It's hot in Haiti, but the hospital, which serves 225,000 residents, is chronically under funded, so luxuries like air conditioning are not considered a priority. Thomas Reedy, Managing Director of Reedy Industries said, “I'm not a doctor, so I cannot donate my time and skills directly to Sacré Coeur, but we are in the air conditioning business, and we believe this donation could really benefit the patients and staff of the hospital by making them more comfortable.”
A financial donation to build a women's maternity ward in Bwindi Uganda. The goals of the project are to:
- double the amount of births local women can have at the clinic (from 45 to 100 per month)
- significantly reduce the mother mortality rate (currently 1/200)
- dramatically reduce HIV transmission to infants (currently HIV mother deliveries NOT in the clinic will have a 30% transmit rate to infants--this goes down to less than 1% in the clinic)
- give the children a better chance at a long life in this harsh environment
The education (HIV & social) will go along way to improving the lives of women in that community (they are currently 3rd class citizens and subject to all sorts of horrible male dominance). For more information you can check out the website at http://www.bchc.ug.
